Abstract: This paper describes the structure and content of the Vegetation Database of the Dry Grasslands from the Transylvanian Basin – Romania (GIVD ID EU-RO-002). It aims to collect all available phytosociological relevés of dry grasslands and related communities (specifically the phytosociological classes Festuco-Brometea, Koelerio-Corynephoretea, Festucetea vaginatae, Trifolio-Geranietea sanguinei, Seslerietea albicantis, Asplenietea trichomanis and Sedo-Scleranthetea) from the study region (Transylvanian Basin - Romania). Presently, 1,467 digitized relevés of an estimated total of 4,000 are available in the database, which comprises data on dry grassland and related communities (95%), together with data on similar vegetation units (Molinio- Arrhenatheretea, Nardo-Callunetea; 5%). The database contains relevés from the literature (1935-2010) published mainly in Romanian journals and relevés monitored by the members of the Working Group on dry grasslands from Romania - Transylvanian Basin, since 2002. The data are mainly used by the Working Group on dry grasslands from Romania, however external proposals for joint analyses are welcomed.
